Hi all,
Thanks for a great August meeting of the Syracuse Urbanism Collective!
At this month’s meeting, we had a guest presentation from Yves Michel about his work designing urban furniture. Learn more about his ping pong table design at yamicreative.live/pecoppt.
This month, we have some post-meeting calls to action! Please, if we missed any, let us know, and we’ll share!
- The city of Syracuse is accepting comments on the Community Grid Vision Plan until September 1st! Learn more here: syr.gov/Projects/Infrastructure/Community-Grid-Vision-Plan
- We’re looking to spread the word about the Smart Growth in CNY Conference. Please share with potential attendees! We’re looking for those who work in areas related to urbanism in Central New York, community activists, public officials, and anyone adjacent to and / or interested in the issues! syracuseurbanism.org/sgcny. A flyer is attached.
- We’re also looking for sponsors for Smart Growth in CNY to cover all or part of our $5000 budget. Please contact us at contact@syracuseurbanism.org if your organization may be interested! A flyer is attached.
- We’re starting a committee on land use planning and transportation in collaboration with the SustainCNY Coalition! See the attached flyer for more details. Please contact us at contact@syracuseurbanism.org if you’d like to be a founding member of this group.
We also discussed various project updates and split into working groups!
- The Creekwalk Wayfinding Project’s stencil designs are finalized!
- We should have a date set for the M. Lemp Park movie night soon. We’re planning on showing Asteroid City.
- The Bike and Pedestrian Infrastructure group wrote a letter to Assembly Member Bill Magnarelli to support safe streets programs.
If you’d like to join any of our projects, visit the project pages at syracuseurbanism.org/our-projects. Each project page has instructions for how to reach out and get involved!
As always, you can reach us at contact@syracuseurbanism.org. Soon, we’ll be rolling out a new email, but the old one will still forward there.
